A YEAR-LONG STUDIO RESIDENCY AT MANIFEST
Artists who are seriously interested in a one-year immersion in their work and the culture around Manifest’s programs are invited to submit applications to Manifest’s Artist Residency program (MAR). Applications will be reviewed on a competitive basis. One or two artists will be selected as the recipient(s) of the MAR award of a free studio for a year plus many other benefits associated with Manifest’s programs.
The MAR is open for application by serious emerging or established adult artists of all ages and levels, and is particularly suited to recent college graduates or artists seeking a professional catalyst. The program has proven to be an ideal transition between academic study and a professional career as a visual artist (or teaching artist), or between undergraduate and graduate study.
The MAR provides a studio free for a year, adjacent to Manifest Gallery, as well as a solo exhibition of works created during the year-long program. Other benefits include the option to develop and teach courses at the Manifest Drawing Center, public exposure and dialog about in-studio works in progress, participation in Manifest Gallery exhibition committee processes, exposure to Manifest gallery talks, and more.
The ideal candidate for the award of the program may be working in any media or genre, but would also make reasonable use of the available Manifest Drawing Center opportunities even if this is ancillary activity to their primary work. Suitability for teaching will be considered, but will not be a primary factor in the selection process, and a teaching appointment is not guaranteed.
